Growing Older

Why do people talk of the horrors of old age? It’s great. I feel like a fine old car with the parts gradually wearing out, but I’m not complaining,… Those who find growing old terrible are people who haven’t done what they wanted with their lives. – Martha Gellhorn

I couldn’t have said it better, Martha dear
I’m getting older but there’s nothing to fear.
Life’s looking better than it ever did
I’m almost 50 – a fact I never hid.
Dyeing is not for me
My greys I’m thrilled to see.
Some bones are creaky
And menopause is kind of freaky
But I’m discovering me
(Even if there’s a lot more to see ๐Ÿ˜‰ )
And feeling finally free
Growing older, I recommend…
Life you begin to comprehend…
Is what you make it
So don’t fake it
Live it. Enjoy it.

  1. I love this poem! You captured the essence of aging perfectly Corinne. And considering I’m way older than you, you are really just a kid! ๐Ÿ˜‰
